SCOPE & SOLUTIONS

Implementation of BIM / VDC approaches and support of the customer’s team in the execution of large projects, based on experience and world practices to achieve greater efficiency and transparency throughout the construction. The customer saw the value in using BIM technology and it was decided to follow the following principles.

HOW DOES IT WORK

• Training and support for all project stakeholders throughout the project
• Standardization of BIM content creation, in accordance with the global requirements for information exchange (ISO 19650)
• Planning and implementation of VDC activities according to Singapore VDC Guide
• Using the BIM models as a single source of data
• Use and implementation of Common Data Environmental (CDE, BIM360 Docs) for document management and quality control
• Team distribution according to the principle “1 project – 1 team” (including BIM coordinators, VDC specialists and site supervisors)
• Preparation and use of BIM models on the construction site
• Organization of the coordination meetings using data visualization based on BIM models (including VR use) for quick problems solving and planning;
• Using 5D technology for budget planning and financing control
• Use of drones and 360° photos to fixation the fact of work completed and reporting
• Using a classifier (Uniformat) for more flexible resources and materials take-off
• Adaptation of models for construction needs (detailed 3D views, sections, etc.)
• Activity management using Agile methodology

RESULTS & ACHIEVEMENTS

• 65 employees of the customer and the builder were trained in the basics of BIM / VDC methodologies
• Formed and trained an autonomous team of BIM / VDC coordinators on the customer’s side (5 specialists)
• Coordinated and checked to meet the requirements of over 40 BIM models from 15 subcontractors for 4 projects (overall area above 100 000 sq. meters))
• CDE as a tool for the exchange of documentation and BIM content between participants in the design and construction process. Availability of actual data on the site
• BIM models were used as a data source for procurement and tendering
• Implementation of the practice of use BIM kiosks, which are placed at each site as a place for obtaining and analyzing actual data for construction
• Construction based on BIM models and 4D work planning for subcontractors
• 5D simulation for budget planning and financing control
